Well the past month has been kindof crazy. Joel and I decided to take a last minute trip to North Georgia with some friends of ours. We had a wonderful time. We went hiking with Emily strapped to us for the first time and we were covered in sweat by the time we were done. It was a lot of fun though. Emily slept through it all. When we got back from our trip I decided to go down to Florida to visit with my brother for a week. By the way...Tiffany just had a baby yesterday for those of you who know her. I had to come home before he was born, but my mom says he's adorable. I cant wait to meet him.
Here are some pictues of Gibson and Emily playing together. Emily got to learn a lot of lessons about "Big Brothers" while she was there. Gibson loved to lay on her and give her kisses. He was so good with her and so sweet. He calls her "Baby Mimms". I think Emily has missed having another kid around to watch. We got back and she went to VBS all week and enjoyed being around those kids. She's going to be bored next week with no kids around.
While I was in Florida, Joel got a new job as assistant principal of Calera High School and so we now are moving. I will miss our little house with the huge yard. Emily and I love being out in the back yard playing with the dogs, but I guess it's time to move on in life. If you know of anyone who wants to buy a house in Hueytown Alabama, please send them my way.
The new house is much bigger but we don't have furniture to put in it yet. I guess we'll live in a half empty house until we see this one. That's okay... maybe Emily will learn to crawl soon and it's less for her to get into.
Emily is getting to be so independent. She sits on her own a lot and watches things that go on around her. I love this picture of her lounging on the couch. She started out sitting up, but the next time I looked over she was slouched down. She looked like such a couch potato.
I took her for her 3 month check up and she is off the charts on her height and she's in the 97% on her weight (14lbs 2oz.). I guess that means we have a big baby. She so sweet. People have been telling me that they think she has colic because she cries with them... but I think it's payback for my childhood. Apparently I wouldnt go to anyone but my mom and she seems to do the same thing sometimes. She is getting better about it though.
I've got to get to work... I only have Emily's short nap times to pack the whole house. Wish me luck.
We had a great Memorial Day weekend. My brother Ben and his family came for a visit and that was a ton of fun. It's been a long time since I've seen his girls and they have grown up a lot. We had a good time. I didnt get a lot of pictures, but here are some from the weekend.
Emily went down the slide for the first time. She liked it.
This is Joel's brother, Carl, holding Emily.
Addy and Laurel (my brother's kids) at the park. They were so much fun.
Today Emily had her 2 month checkup. I have to say that moms are really tough, but making you hold your child down while giving them 4 shots is a little too much to ask. It's like giving a child a small cute puppy and then asking them to hold it down while you chop it's head off. They really should have an extra nurse in there so that a parent never has to put their child through that.
On a brighter note, she is growing like a weed and gaining weight very quickly. She is now 11lbs,10oz & 23 3/4 inches long. She is learning so much every day. She getting to be a lot of fun. She is smiling and cooing and watching every thing you do.
Last night I took her in the baby class at church because she was being to loud to sit in our class. The baby class doesnt start till their a year old, but she paid attention to everything. She was talking more then I had ever heard her talk before and she acted like she really enjoyed it. She just sat in my lap in the corner, but she loved the songs and stories and stuff. Anyway, it was fun to watch her interact.
Here are a few pictures of her cute little smile.
I know that all parents think their own kids are cute, but she really is. I don't think I would know it if she wasn't.
She has really changed my life, but in a good way. It's trying at times, but she is 7 weeks old now and has started smiling and cooing. She is getting to be more interactive and fun.
As you can see she loves bath time with Daddy. It's really cute to watch. I've tried to give her a bath and she cried the whole time. I guess it's good that Joel has his thing with her that is just his. He's a great dad.
